Varasimme kaupungista siistin airbnb-huoneen Cubs-kentän naapurista, Lakeviewin alueelta.
Metroseikkailulla etsiydyttiin myös ensimmäiselle Playboy-kartanolle 1340 N State Pkwy), jossa on nykyään ihan tavallisia asuntoja.
Coldness could express my Chicago experience the best. It's a blooming summer with sunshine in the pictures but the reality was a different story. It was really windy and that's why very hard to dress in proper clothes - some were wearing summer dresses and the others thicker clothes on the streets.
We had a nice airbnb room in the neighborhood of the Cubs field in the Lakeview area. I enjoyed jogging in the harbor at Lake Michigan. The Chicago 'L', the subway, was easily accessed from the apartment.
We went to see the most visited attraction in the city, Navy Pier. It was quite nice to walk, look at the city from a distance and hear some live music from the terraces but that was basically what Navy Pier could offer. The artsy Millennium Park in the centre was my favorite place and it was a shame I didn't get to stay there to listen free concerts which are held every summer night. In addition to these places we took the subway to the Chicago Theatre, the beginning sign of Route 66 and the original Playboy mansion.
Other places (mostly food!!) to remember were
- Mity Nice restaurant at Water Tower Place (a shopping mall) - yummy meatloaf
- Purple Pig restaurant (N Michigan av) - chicken kebab with tzatziki (even better than the meatloaf at Mity Nice!)
- Wicker Park area with lovely restaurants and vintage boutiques
- Piece restaurant for pizza (Wicker Park)
- Bongo Room (1470 N Milwaukee Av, Wicker Park): probably the best omelette I had on the trip
