It's been a while, but here we go again. We took a beautiful 50-mile Scenic Route to Yellowstone National Park and entered the park from east. We only saw buffalos from a far distance at Badlands but here the creatures we're chilling out just next to the highway. Our first stop at the park was Yellowstone Lake and Fishing Bridge General Store.
Matka jatkui Grand Loop Roadia pitkin pohjoiseen, kanjonikylään ja Tower Falliin. Kanjonikylässä näin ensimmäiset kuumat mutalähteet ja lenkkeilimme South Rim Trailia pitkin Upper ja Lower Fallseille, Yellowstonen Grand Canoynille.
The Yellowstone tour continued by driving the Grand Loop Road north to Canoyn Village and Tower Fall. I saw my first mudpots in the Canoyn Village. We hiked the South Rim Trail to see the Upper and Lower Falls, the Grand Canoyn of Yellowstone.
MUSTAKARHU! Petrified treelle, muinaiselle redwood-puulle ajaessa tuli elämäni ensimmäinen karhu vastaan. Lopulta näimme vielä erään toisen yksilön tallustamassa vähän kauempana, joten päivän saldo oli kaksi mustakarhua.
A BLACK BEAR! When driving to the Petrified Tree (an ancient redwood), I saw my first bear ever. In the end we ended up seeing two black bears on our first Yellowstone day.
Telttapaikan löytäminen puiston alueelta oli melko haastavaa, joten ajoimme pohjoisen Mammoth Hot Springsin kautta puiston ulkopuolelle Montanan osavaltioon (Raja oli ihan lähellä). Yö vietettiin lopulta karhuvaroitusten keskellä Eagle Creek -nimisellä camping-alueella.
It was impossible to get a camp site at the park so we drove past Mammoth Hot Springs and left the park's northern exit. In the end, we spent the night at Eagle Creek camping in the state of Montana (The border was close to Yellowstone).
